Lift lines on pow days at Alta are 1-2 hours long, w utahs least friendly winter patrons. Let them have it. There are better resorts 40 minutes north, w free parking, and faster lift lines. Unless you can buy out Alta and Ban Skis for 20 years. They just wont see the malady of their ideology...too much time and money has been thrown at that problem from the wrong angle. When you grab a dogs tail and hold it firm, does it then wag the dog? No, you have to first own the dog to be its puppet master..go ride anywhere else, life is short...
I was involved in 2014 lawsuit. The worst part is how many ski companies and ski culture back Alta. If your outerwear company has a retailer at Alta or Deer Valley probably not core. Alta skiers and those companies that support the whole thing are not cool and dont live up their “enlightened” branding.
Your use of extremely racially charged language in this article is quite frankly appalling. This is a hobby and a choice. Hijacking the emotion and injustice of words like “apartheid” to describe this issue is disgraceful.
I think a large portion of your argument is misplaced. You repeatedly mention “tax-payer funded,” but I’m not aware of significant funding going from the government to ski area operations. I assume some actions that take place on all public lands, but not actually subsidizing their operations. Yes, it is on public land, but I don’t think that qualifies as “taxpayer-funded.” ALTAs ban on snowboarding is incredibly silly, but I think screaming equality and acting like a victim is silly too. The next time Alta’s Special Use Permit renews seems like the time to pressure the Forest Service to require Alta to change its policy. Unfortunately, from a quick search it looks like that isn’t until 2042.

This is a solid argument. The no boarders allowed snobbery has always perplexed me. And there’s no good reason to let it stand on public land
